Raising a child is one of the most demanding, challenging, and intense responsibilities you will ever know. Motherhood is truly an all-consuming labor of love.
You may be struggling to return to your pre-pregnancy health and feel that your body is failing you emotionally and physically. You were the focus during pregnancy, but now all the attention has shifted to your baby. You feel like you’re running on vapors and may have entered into the shadows. Postpartum can be an incredibly vulnerable and lonely phase of motherhood.
You need to be nurtured just as much as your baby.
Traditionally, the postpartum recovery period was the first 6 weeks after giving birth. More recently this phase now includes the first year postpartum, but even then you may not feel fully recovered. You struggle with stress, sleep deprivation, poor body image, proper nutrition and perhaps anxiety and depression. Postnatal depletion can affect you long after birth— sometimes up to seven years later!
Thrive Mama is designed to provide you with on going postpartum support whether you are just weeks postpartum or years, a first time mother or a not-so-new mother. Our collaborative health care approach integrates acupuncture, yoga, nutrition and psychotherapy into an individualized treatment plan for you. Our goal is to help you to physically heal and give you the tools you need to feel empowered, equipped with coping skills to navigate stressful times and the courage to advocate for your needs as a mother.
Our practitioners will design a program tailored to your specific needs using acupuncture, yoga, nutrition and psychotherapy. We also work with exceptional doulas and lactation consultants if you need additional support.
- Acupuncture will help to balance your hormone levels, reduce stress and decrease musculoskeletal pain.
- Yoga sessions will reinforce stress reduction through breath and mindful exercises. You will also learn specific postures to support restful sleep, stretch achy muscles and quiet your mind.
- Nutritional counseling will teach you to eat well for breastfeeding, healthy weight loss and hormone function.
- Psychotherapy sessions are an opportunity to learn coping skills for stress reduction and to share your concerns about adjusting to postpartum life.
